Sleep is essential to your health and well-being. The more space you have to sleep in, the better your night’s rest will be. However, many of us often stick to a sleeping space that’s not much bigger (or even smaller) than when we were babies. The width of an average cot is 75cm. Meanwhile, a standard double bed, – one of the most popular mattress sizes in the UK – is 135cm. If you share your bed, that’s just 67.5cm each!

Most popular bed for two in the UK, you have 75cm each, and the sleeping area is 10cm longer than a standard double.
Super King	180	200	6'	6'6"
The biggest and best of the standard sizes, it gives two sleepers 90cm each, and is same length as a king size.

Alongside the 4 main standard sizes it could be you own a bed base which none of the above quite fit. Below are a couple less common alternative sizes that we can provide for those customers that need them:

Plenty of space for 1 to stretch out, but extremely cosy for 2. Great for smaller bedrooms where a standard double won't quite fit.

For larger vintage or continental beds this size is often referred to as a 'continental double'. The more room to sleep in the better. Great if a super king won’t quite go.
Emperor	200	200	6'6"	6'6"
The largest of all of our special sizes, an Emperor mattress gives those with large bedrooms the maximum amount of sleeping space, so if you share you both have room to spread out and relax.

UK mattress sizes for adjustable beds

If you own or are thinking of buying an adjustable bed base, then the mattress or mattresses you need may not be standard UK sizes. Keep in mind that, if going for a double handset - two single mattresses on one frame - both mattresses should be the same height (e.g. 21cm, 25cm or 30cm). No, in fact the TEMPUR^® mattress should never be turned.

Our TEMPUR EASE^® cover has been designed to fit our unique TEMPUR^® Material while being easy to keep clean. It’s easy to remove, and washable at 30 degrees. If you need to purchase a replacement or spare cover for your mattress, please contact us for a quotation. We’ll need to know the exact model and size to ensure you receive the correct cover for your mattress. We also recommend using a TEMPUR^® Mattress Protector to keep your bed nice and fresh.

As the TEMPUR^® Material responds to the natural warmth of the body, the use of an electric blanket is not recommended, as it will affect the way in which the Material reacts and adapts to the body. An electric blanket placed on the mattress may also reduce the pressure distributing properties of the TEMPUR^® Material.
