What types of bed pillows are there?
There are many choices when it comes to pillows.
At TEMPUR®, our soft pillows are made from our unique TEMPUR® Material, born from NASA technology and perfected for sleep. There are also soft pillows for front, back and side sleepers, with machine-washable cover options.
We also offer ergonomic-shaped pillows – designed to help support your neck, back and shoulders. Or our classic rectangular pillows, where you can choose medium options too.

Refer to the care label stitched inside each pillow for specific care and washing instructions.
While you have the cover in the wash, a spare pillow cover may come in handy so you can continue to get a great night's sleep without interruption.
Caring for your TEMPUR® soft pillow
To help keep your TEMPUR® Original Ergonomic Pillows clean and fresh, simply remove the cover and follow the product-specific washing instructions on the product label.
TEMPUR® classic pillows are also easy to maintain. Simply shake and fluff daily for maximum comfort. The same applies to the TEMPUR® Ombracio SmartCool™ Pillow.

Soft Pillows FAQs
How many soft pillows should go on a bed?
The number of pillows you need depends on your personal preferences. The important thing is that your head is straight. Sleeping with too many pillows can tilt your head forward. Conversely, too few pillows may tilt your head back. At TEMPUR®, we recommend one pillow per sleeper.
What is a soft pillow?
A soft pillow is a pillow you use to support your head and neck while you sleep, with a softer feel. There are lots of other pillows to choose from, and finding a suitable option depends on your sleeping preferences.
Which type of pillow is best for sleeping?
There is no one-size-fits-all best pillow for sleeping. We all have different sleeping needs and preferences, including how firm you like your pillow. To get the right pillow for you, it’s important to identify the way you spend most of your time while sleeping. Our pillows come in varieties for side sleepers, back sleepers and front sleepers in a range of feels from soft to medium-firm.
