However, many of us often stick to a sleeping space that’s not much bigger (or even smaller) than when we were babies. The width of an average cot is 75cm. Meanwhile, a standard double bed, – one of the most popular mattress sizes in the UK – is 135cm. If you share your bed, that’s just 67.5cm each!

UK mattress sizes for adjustable beds
If you own or are thinking of buying an adjustable bed base, then the mattress or mattresses you need may not be standard UK sizes. Keep in mind that, if going for a double handset - two single mattresses on one frame - both mattresses should be the same height (e.g. 21cm, 25cm or 30cm). A: In the UK, there are four standard mattress sizes: single, double, king and super king. However, there are many more non-standard sizes available, such as: small double, euro king and emperor. These non-standard sizes are often made to fit continental bed frames, meaning you should make sure you measure up correctly before ordering.

- We also recommend when making up your bed, you do not use a valance between your TEMPUR Ease® mattress and chosen bed base as this can restrict air flow.
