Meet TEMPUR®’s Sleep Specialist, Emma Sharp

Emma Sharp is TEMPUR® UK’s Education and Advocacy Manager. She brings over 20 years’ expert sleep experience to the brand. Her career at TEMPUR® began as a Sales Representative, then she progressed to Area Account Manager. In 2024, Emma was promoted into her current role, leading in education, training, advocacy around sleep, ergonomics, and ethical selling.

Professor Jason Ellis is a Professor of Psychology at Northumbria University, and Director of the Northumbria Centre for Sleep Research. Professor Ellis recommended Emma to conduct extensive specialist training in the science of sleep. This includes:

Sleep Medicine Course (2025) Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Insomnia (CBT‑I) in collaboration with Sleep Science Adult Sleep Training across five core areas with The Sleep Charity, The Sleep Ergonomics Expert Course with TEMPUR Finland.

Emma combines this expertise with real-world experience to make complex sleep science easier to understand. In her role, Emma delivers product and educational seminars across the business. She shares her expert knowledge of sleep hygiene to everyone – from staff in retail accounts to those in warehouse teams. Her approach goes far beyond product features. She focuses on sleep ergonomics, ethical selling, and customer education. By building a better understanding of sleep, she helps teams support customers. The aim is to shift the focus from simple product sales to a full, responsible sleep hygiene conversation. This way, the team can help customers better understand sleep cycles and provide support towards a good night’s sleep.

Born and raised in Yorkshire Dales, Emma’s personal philosophy on sleep is rooted in balance and routine. Her number one recommendation for a restful night’s sleep is regular movement, her personal favourite, a long walk in the countryside, followed by a homecooked meal and a calm evening routine.

As a mother to a young daughter, she’s passionate about the importance of healthy sleep habits throughout life.  She aims to set routines early on to help build sleep strategies for times of stress, life changes, and ageing. Emma also advocates for practical bedroom environments that support rest. She advises people to keep their sleep space cool, quiet, and dark1 wherever possible, which reflects advice given by Mental Health UK. Through her work, she champions the idea that good sleep is not about perfection. It's about understanding the importance of consistency and making informed, achievable changes that support both physical and mental health.
